A fundamental requirement of the NLA-SA’s Metrologist Certification Scheme (MetCert) is that persons certified as competent need to demonstrate that on an on-going basis they continue to keep their skills relevant and knowledge up-to-date.
The scheme has an initial and then on-going 3 year certification period. In order for a certified person to be re-certified at the end of each 3 year period it is necessary that the applicant applying for re-certification provides adequate evidence that they have perfomed activies related to calibration, accredition and metrology in general. This process is referred to as Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and in order to accomplish these requirements various activities have been approved and which are referred to as CPD activities.
MetCert certified persons are requested to download the relevant documents in order to see what are the requirements and ensure that they do not leave the fulfilment of them until the end of the 3 year period. Any questions in this regard should be forwarded to the NLA-SA in order to clarify what is required.
